音楽指導においては，言葉による説明だけではなく，非言語的な表現手段，例えば，ジェスチャや表情，あるいは模範演奏等の提示が重要な役割を果たすことはこれまでにも知られていることである．熟達した指導者が用いるこれらの非言語的な表現手段については，従来は人手による質的分析しか行われておらず，客観的なデータを用いた分析は十分に行われていない．本研究では，非言語的な表現手段を客観的データを用いて分析する手法を確立することを目指す．その手始めとして，合唱指導としての指揮に着目する．合唱の指導においては，個別の練習に加えて，実際に合唱をしている際の指揮によって指揮者の意図を歌う人に伝える．合唱指揮の熟達者と初心者に同じ合唱曲を指揮してもらい，その様子を動画で撮影する．撮影した動画から，指揮者の左右の手首の位置変化を抽出し，その位置変化のパターンを定性的・定量的に解析し，熟達者の「技」を客観的なデータで示すことを試みる． |

In music instruction, it has long been recognized that non-verbal means of expressio―such as gestures, facial expressions, and the presentation of model performance―play an essential role in addition to verbal explanations. However, these non-verbal expressive techniques employed by expert instructors have traditionally been examined only through qualitative, manual analyses, and objective data-driven investigations remain limited. The present study aims to establish a methodology for analyzing non-verbal expressive behaviors using objective data. As an initial step, we focus on choral conducting as a form of instructional practice. In choral education, beyond individual practice sessions, conductors communicate their interpretive intentions to singers through conducting gestures during actual performance. In this study, expert and novice conductors will be asked to conduct the same choral piece, and their performances will be recorded on video. From the recorded footage, the positional changes of the conductors' left and right wrists will be extracted. The patterns of these positional changes will then be analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively in order to identify and objectively characterize the“skills”of expert conductors through empirical data. |
