• 論文抄録 / 内容記述: IBMのメインフレームで用いられるアーキテクチャーは、1964年以来16進法の浮動小数点データ形式と切捨て演算を行う命令体系を使用している。一方、ワークステーションはANSI /IEEE標準に準拠した2進法で丸める演算を行うIEEE形式を用いている。本報告ではIBMのエンジニアリング・ワークステーションであるRISC System/6000における、IEEE形式のサポートの方法を紹介する。

• 論文抄録(英) / 内容記述: Floating-point number is represented in hexadecimal and arithmetic operations are performed with truncation on IBM main-frame architecture System/370 (S/370, *). On workstation such as IBM RISC System/6000 (RS/6000, *), data format and arithmetic operations are conforming to ANSI/IEEE Standard (IEEE format), in which numbers are represented in binary and operations are carried out with rounding. This report introduce show engineering workstation RS/6000 supports this format of IEEE 754 standard.
