物語において，ダークファンタジーはファンタジーのサブジャンルとされるが，その境界は非常に曖昧であり，正確に区別することは容易ではない．本研究では，ダークファンタジーの定義を明確にするため，ダークファンタジーと非ダークファンタジーの世界観を計量的に分析し，その差異を明らかにすることを目的とする．まず，物語研究の熟練者によって選定された17作品ずつのダークファンタジーおよび非ダークファンタジー作品を対象に，残酷さや陰惨な設定を分類した「ダーク世界観分析用カテゴリ」を作成し，階層クラスタリングを実施した．その結果，クラスタが2つに分割され，ダークファンタジーと非ダークファンタジーの区別をする際に，重要な要素として「敵が人間であるかどうか」や「身体の欠損の有無」，「カニバリズムの出現の有無」などが指標になることが示唆された．本研究の成果は，ダークファンタジーの「ダーク性」の調整に応用可能であると考えられる． |

In narrative, dark fantasy is considered a subgenre of fantasy, but its boundaries are very blurred, and it is not easy to accurately distinguish between the two. In order to clarify the definition of dark fantasy, this study aims to quantitatively analyze the worldviews of dark fantasy and non-dark fantasy and clarify the differences between them. First, we created “categories for analyzing dark worldviews” by classifying cruelty and gruesome settings for each of 17 dark fantasy and non-dark fantasy works selected by experts in narrative research and conducted hierarchical clustering. The results showed that the clusters were divided into two, suggesting that the important factors in distinguishing between dark fantasy and non-dark fantasy are indexed as “whether the enemy is human or not,” “whether the body is missing or not,” “whether cannibalism appears or not,” and so on. The results of this study may be applicable to the adjustment of “darkness” in dark fantasy. |
