Scalability stands as an imperative consideration within the realm of database management, especially among concurrency control protocols tasked with parallel execution. Despite its acknowledged importance, lock-based concurrency control protocols such as 2PL wait-or-die often encounter scalability issues, especially under high workloads. To overcome these challenges, we propose FafnirDT, a novel method integrating an elastic reader-writer lock with a dynamic timestamp tracker. This innovative approach is designed to efficiently manage resource contention in demanding parallel execution environments with many-core architecture, with an emphasis on its effectiveness during long transactions. |
