| 内容記述 | This study investigates VPN usage, perceptions, and misconceptions among users in Canada and Japan. We surveyed 234 participants to explore reasons for VPN usage, user understanding, and misconceptions. Our cross-cultural approach addresses gaps in previous research, shedding light on VPN use beyond the United States. Notable differences emerged: Japanese users prioritize security, while Canadians employ VPNs for privacy and content access. Canadians exhibited better application understanding despite limited technical grasp, while Japanese participants demonstrated deeper comprehension, particularly in traffic encryption. Both groups lacked awareness of VPN data logging. This research enhances VPN usage understanding and unveils cultural influences on adoption and perception. | |||||||||
