• 論文抄録 / 内容記述: 本稿は、PDFにおける文書保護機構を構造的観点から再整理し、文書変換過程に着目した新たな概念枠組みを提示する。一般にPDFのパスワード保護は単一の機構として理解されるが、実際には暗号化によるコンテンツアクセス制御と、permission flagsによる操作制御という異なる性質の機構が併存している。本稿ではISO 32000-2に基づき、両者を分離し、それぞれを強制的なコンテンツ制御と、閲覧過程に依存する協調的制御として位置付ける。さらに、『Save as PDF』および『Print to PDF』といった変換操作を統一的に捉える概念としてSPP（Save/Print to PDF Process）を定義する。SPPはレンダリング結果に基づいてPDFを再構成する過程であり、その際、permission flagsによる制約は必ずしも維持されない。以上より、本稿はPDFにおける保護機構の適用範囲と持続性を再定義し、文書構造と利用者が観測する操作可能性との乖離を説明する。さらにSPPはSurface-Preserving Processとしても解釈される。

• 論文抄録(英) / 内容記述: This paper presents a structural reinterpretation of PDF document protection mechanisms by focusing on document transformation processes. While PDF password protection is often perceived as a unified mechanism, it actually consists of two distinct components: content-level access control through encryption and operation-level control specified by permission flags. Based on ISO 32000-2, we characterize these as fundamentally different forms of control: mandatory content enforcement and cooperative, viewer-dependent control. We then introduce the concept of the Save/Print to PDF Process (SPP), which unifies transformation operations such as “Save as PDF” and “Print to PDF.” SPP is defined as a process that reconstructs a PDF from its rendered representation, during which structural constraints such as permission flags may not be preserved. This demonstrates that permission-based restrictions are not intrinsic to document content, but instead depend on viewer-mediated policies. We show that SPP provides a basis for redefining the scope and persistence of protection mechanisms in PDF documents and for explaining discrepancies between internal structure and observable user operations. Furthermore, SPP can also be interpreted as a Surface-Preserving Process, in which rendered appearance is retained while structural constraints are not preserved.
