• 論文抄録 / 内容記述: マルチメディア、インターネット等の技術の発達と普及に伴い、様々な分野の研究活動に歴史的な変化が生じ始めている。これらの技術により情報の流通が大幅に自由で容易になることに注目する立場から、知的情報の私有化を前提とする知的財産権制度の根幹を見直すべきとする意見も見られる。これに対して、本稿ではネットワークを介した情報流通において、著作権と特許権の重要性がむしろ増大することを指摘し、対策について検討する。対策としては、法律を含む制度、権利保護のための技術、並びに教育と組織構成を含む人的対策が重要である。特に本学会としては、デイジタル著作物の権利保護ならびに特許関連情報に関する技術開発と、「知的財産権意識高揚運動」に力を注ぐ必要がある。

• 論文抄録(英) / 内容記述: Research activities in various fields are experiencing an unprecedented transformation due to the development and wider use of multimedia and Internet technologies. Noting that these technologies will drastically facilitate the dissemination of information, some researchers suggest that the fundamentals of the intellectual property right system, which was built on the premise that intellectual information can be privately owned, should be reconsidered. This paper recognizes that both copyright and patent right will assume even more importance in the networked environment. It then discusses some strategies for coping with this situation. Legislative, technological and human factors should be included in the strategies. The development of technologies for copyright protection for digital works and for handling patent-related information, and the planning of an "IPR Awareness Campaign" are some items that should be on the agenda for the Information Processing Society of Japan.
