Unlike the typical studies of distance collaborative learning that focused on discussion, collaborative learning in general often involves collaborative work, which has been focused on in this research. Collaborative learning as a combination of discussion and collaborative work was investigated, which revealed: 1) Use of semantic tags in a chat discussion is useful. 2) There is a time lag between discussion and work. 3) Awareness of other learners is problematic in distance collaborative learning.
