We analyze sentence length, which is one of the classic textual measurements. For the analysis, we consider two works, i.e., “Tale of Genji” and “Tale of Utsubo,” which were written in the Heian period (794-1185); both original manuscripts were lost and hence only passed on as transcriptions. Therefore, we use the revised scripts for the analysis.
