Therefore, smart meter systems are required to employ a reliable multicast protocol. However, in conventional protocols, STAs are not allowed to transmit their data frames until the multicast protocol is completed. As a result, conventional protocols degrade delay performances and frame loss rates of STAs. This paper proposes a grouping method of STAs to improve delay performances and frame loss rates. The evaluation system model is based on the IEEE 802.11ah sensor network which has a large number of STAs.
