However, the cost of porting applications and databases running on the proprietary middleware to the open source middleware can exceed the reduced fees. For cutting porting cost, we evaluated the effectiveness of porting support tools. We chose several tools, applied them to our existing systems, and evaluated their abilities from the aspects of coverage, accuracy, and automaticity, quantitatively and qualitatively.
