The CIPS professional standards program, has made some significant progress in the last 25 years including the development of the elements traditionally found in the professions such as a guide to the core body of knowledge, post-secondary program accreditation, the definition of admission requirements for the profession, skills and professional development requirements, a code of ethics and conduct, and the creation of a professional society.
