The theorem was proved by Rivin based on arguments of hyperbolic geometry. Independently, Hiroshima, Miyamoto and Sugihara gave another proof of the theorem based on primitive arguments on Euclidean geometry. Unfortunately, the existing proofs of the theorem are rather difficult or long.
