We estimate the camera parameters including lens distortion coefficients that minimizes a SSD (sum of squared differences) function composed with the pixel values of multiple images viewing an arbitrary textured plane. The contribution of every pixel to the measurements can improve the precision of the estimated parameters compared with existing feature-based self-calibration techniques. In addition, this method enables us to offer an easy calibration interfaces which doesn't require specific calibration patterns on the calibration target, such as chessboard patterns, nor user input of corner positions on the target.
