Systems in 1950s and 1960s were based on inductive cables embedded in a roadway, which were followed by systems with machine vision resulting autonomous vehicles in 1970s and 1980s. ITS projects since 1980s regarded automated driving as an important system, and not only a single automated vehicle but also an automated platoon were developed.
