The dynamic property of the melodic contour, i.e. fundamental frequency (F0) sequence, is assumed to be the main cue of singing styles because typical ornamentations such as vibrato has an individuality. F0 signal trajectories in the phase plane are used as the basic representation. By fitting Gaussian mix-ture models to the observed F0 trajectories in the phase plane, a parametric representation is obtained by a set of GMM parameters.
