The proposed method statically rewrites I/O instructions in device drivers of guest operating systems in order to execute multiple I/O instructions together. This reduces the number of switches between a guest operating system and a host operating system, and improves I/O performance. The proposed method has been implemented in the virtual machine monitor KVM of Linux.
