However, in most cases, criteria of judgments are defined by arbitrary parameters based on characteristics of data and analysts experiences, and there is no universal judgment criterion. Non-arbitrary judgment is important and needed. We developed an algorithm for non-arbitrary periodicity judgment by introducing Information Criterion. We applied the algorithm to randomly generated time series data and gene expression profile of mice to find circadian genes, and compared with widely used conventional judgment methods.
