• 論文抄録 / 内容記述: 幼児は驚異的なスピードでことばを学習していく。その背景には子どもがことばの外延の一事例を示されただけで直ちにそのことばの外延範囲を推論し、暫時的に意味を付与するということばと意味の即時マッピングのプロセスがある。本稿では子どもがどのようなメカニズムで外延の一事例からことばの意味を確定することは不可能であると言うQuineの意味の不確定性の問題を回避し、即時マッピングを行っているのかを議論する。

• 論文抄録(英) / 内容記述: Young children learn words at an amazingly fast pace. What makes this efficient learning possible is the process called 'fast-mapping', by which children are able to infer the meaning of a new word at the first exposure to the word in association with an object in spite of the logical problem of induction involed in this process (Quine, 1960). In this paper, I discuss the underlying mechanizm of this 'fast-mapping' of a word to its meaning.
