Musically significant portions were selected from a piece of music. Their durations were 5 to 20secs. They were arranged in descending series and ascending series according to their sound levels with about 5 secs silent interval. Symphony no.6 b-minor op.74 "pathetique" composed by Tchaikovsky was used in Experiment 1 and "Slavonian march" op.31 composed by Tchaikovsky was used in Experiment 2.
