A counterpoint is a subordinated melody which enriches texture of sounds and gives verve to music. A counterpoint sometimes imitates phrases of a main melody and makes up rhythm. Our method composes counterpoints using techniques of imitation and making up. A counterpoint has to avoid interference with a main melody. The method measures the density of notes in each place of main melody and places sounds in a counterpoint depending on the density. By observing the density interference is avoided. In order to guide composition of counterpoints the method takes a harmony or sequence of chords.
