In this paper a new coding method SinexAudio coding (Segmental INtensity EXpanding AUDIO coding) is introduced. The SinexAudio includes a new technique called Foreground / Background Categorization (FBC). SinexAudio is a transform coder using MDCT with vector quantization at the bottom of the data flow. The FBC is used to flatten MDCT coefficients as well as conventional LPC spectrum and Bark-scale envelope method. This new technique works efficiently for this quality-determining procedure. Quality of SinexAudio reproduction was tested comparing with a typical transform/VQ coder, TwinVQ.
