The mosaic operation and JPEG compression/decompression are utilized. The feature extractions based on the histogram for the document and the Hough transformation for the map in the mosaic operation are effective to reduce the necessary time for matching two neighboring images. The characteristics of the image input by the video camera are indicated. For the effectives to rage of images, a JPEG code for personal computers was implemented on the NEWS work-station. The efficiency of compression and its cpu time are measured.},
