 note = {近年のコンピュータ技術の発展とイメージ作用のメカニズムの学際的な解明は、情報認識技術として多くの可能性を拓き始めている。すなわち、画像認識処理、人工知能などイメージ処理に関するハードウェア、ソフトウェアの開発が進むとともに、イメージのもたらす作用についても、心理学、生理学、情報工学的な面からの学際的なアプローチが進行している。このような中で、イメージ情報科学（画像、映像、音楽などのイメージ情報に対して、人間の感性、技能、経験、知識に基づいた理解や表現などの情報処理を行う総合的科学）に関する研究開発、技術指導、人材育性などを行う（財）イメージ情報科学研究所が設立された。このレポートでは、その活動について報告するものである。, Recently, the rapid development of computer technology together with academic interdisciplinary research for the mechanism of the action of image has now begun to make it possible to have computer recognize the image. With the progress of the development of the hardware and software processing image (i.e., image recognition, artificial intelligence, etc.), academic interdisciplinary approach is in progress from many aspects such as psychology, physiology or information engineering. Laboratories of Image and Science and Technology were founded in these environments to carry out investigations, research and technical training and cultivating human resources about science of image information (i.e., a composite science processing image information such as image, visual or music to recognize or express based on human sensitivity, skill, experience and knowledge). In this report, we introduce those activities.},
