The project engineering committee under the Engineering Advancement Association of Japan organized the group to study advanced Engineering Office Automation (:EOA) in Mar. 1991. The members of the group defined the position of EOA within the information systems architecture for engineering work after evaluating the relation between the various application systems (like CAE, PMS) and the latest information technologies, and extracting new issues to be solved in the area of EOA in the near future.
