However, this does not necessarily guarantee their global smoothness. In this paper, we introduce \"pseudeenergy\" for measuring the global smoothness of a curve and present a simple scheme for generating a smooth Hermite spline curve based on it. An efficient table lookup technique is proposed for this computation. We also show that the length of a generated curve and the area of the region it encloses can be evaluated accurately and efficiently by our table lookup technique.
