The time delay neural network (TDNN) is used to this system. The input and hidden layers of TDNN consist of 384 neurons corresponding to 24 × 16 dot pixels per one frame. Presence of the intentional winking is discriminated by refering to the 16 frames. This system has three features. (1) Needless for careful settlement of sensors. This system uses TV camera. (2) Avanced discrimination of winking. The weight for the inputs of the hidden layer neurons are given corresponding the difference between open-eye image and close-eye image.
