• 論文抄録 / 内容記述: インターネットは，時や空間を越えてのやりとりを可能にしたという点で，人のコミュニケーションの可能性を広げたと言われるが，逆に，現実社会の多様なコミュニケーションを避けて限定された相手のみと深くコミュニケーションをするようになるという可能性も指摘されている．本研究では，電子メールを利用することによって，ある人が情報源としてアクセスできる他者との関係がどのように変化してきているのかをReverse Small World method（RSW法）を用いて分析した．今回の結果から，電子メールというメディアが人と人の間の「弱いつながり」を維持する役割があること，およびRSW法が人の外界の情報源としての人間関係を調査するのに有効な手法である可能性があることがわかった．

• 論文抄録(英) / 内容記述: The Internet is said to have two possible effects on human communication processes. On the one hand, it expands a person's communication width and on the other, it restricts a person's communication with his/her close friends. In this study, using the Reverse Small World method(RSW method), we examined whether the way in which people relate to each other as information resources changes with the use of electronic mail (E-mail). The results indicate that E-mail enables the maintenance of weak-ties between people, and demonstrates the feasibility of the RSW method as a tool to explore human relationships.
