AC simulates the metabolism of a biological cell by treating pixel values or texture of images as an environment. Each AC contains unique image feature to obtain energy from target image and this feature is encoded as genetic information. The adapablility of ACs to the image feature and competition among ACs enables automatic extration of the image features.
