The S-3000 Cluster system is composed of a maximum of four machines similar to the S-3800 TCMPs (Tightly Coupled Multi Processors) linked a high speed interconnection network. The S-3000 Cluster System uses two levels of parallelism. The first is a TCMP system with a shared memory. The second is a distributed memory scheme composed of four TCMP system which supports low-overhead message-passing. We have shown effectiveness of this approach by performance evaluation on a real machine.
