On the other hand, progress in computer networks makes both workstation clusters and MPPs popular. So we have developed a parallel filesystem called MFS, which runs on a workstation cluster with a number of disks. This system supports large capacity files and high throughput file access by striping data across nodes and permitting parallel accesses.
