Electric vehicles (EVs) are considered one of the most effective means to reduce oil consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, making them a promising option for future road transportation. The widespread adoption of EVs is expected to have a significant impact on society and, consequently, human life. A key feature of EVs is their battery module, which offers higher capacity compared to other devices. This high-capacity battery can also function as an energy storage system (ESS) for homes when connected to a charger. This paper presents the operational modes of a bi-directional converter for vehicle-to-home (V2H) applications. The proposed system utilizes a bi-directional converter to enable two-way power flow between the home and the vehicle. It employs a synchronous converter and a full-bridge converter, and operates in two modes: battery charging and energy backup. The system is designed based on a 7.7 kW single-phase AC charger, and its feasibility is confirmed through simulations. |
