Osaka Castle Town, also known as Osaka Sango, is said to have had between 270,000 and 420,000 inhabitants throughout the Edo period. However, records of the population of each of the approximately 600 towns that made up the castle town are fragmentary and insufficient to provide a detailed picture of the population distribution of the entire Osaka Sango. The authors are working to clarify the population density at the time, using records of fires and other events that caused widespread damage as clues to the number of people affected. In the case of the Oshioyake and Ochoboyake fires, which affected the Tenma area, there are records that can be used to reconstruct the population of each town affected by the fires. Based on these records, the spatial information of the affected areas and the locations of the towns were reconstructed, and the population density of each town was estimated, focusing on the Tenma area. In addition, the differences between the records revealed in this process are shown.},
