TEIガイドラインは，人文学のためのテキストデータ構造化の国際的な標準ガイドラインとして策定され広まってきていたものの，日本ではなかなか普及しなかった．筆者らは，その理由を分析しつつ様々な解決策を打ってきており，そのピースの一つとして，誰もが簡単に日本や東アジアの古典籍のTEI準拠ファイルを読み込ませて，個々のタグの性質にあわせた可視化を確認できるTEI古典籍ビューワを開発した．このビューワは東アジアの縦書き文化に焦点をあて，さらに，人文学の様々な分野に対応できることを目指して開発された．このビューワの評判は高く，公開後，TEIに取り組む人文系研究者を着実に増加させている． |

Although the TEI Guidelines were established as international standard guidelines for structuring text data for the humanities and were becoming widespread, they did not catch on in Japan. The authors have been analyzing the reasons for this and trying out various solutions, and as one piece of this puzzle, they have developed a TEI classic book viewer that allows anyone to easily load TEI-compliant files of Japanese and East Asian classic books and check the visualization that matches the properties of each tag. This viewer was developed with a focus on the vertical writing culture of East Asia, and with the aim of being able to handle a variety of fields in the humanities. This viewer has been well received, and since its release, the number of humanities researchers working with TEI has been steadily increasing. |
