In the United States, the FCC conducted the first-ever “incentive auction” to repurpose TV broadcast 600MHz band for mobile use. Mid-band spectrum necessary for the widespread deployment of 5G is being secured by refarming spectrum used by the Department of Defense and fixed satellite services.
