Simulation studies are being conducted to improve the efficiency of set-net fishing. Most of these studies focus on modeling a single species of fish; however, in reality, multiple species coexist within the set-net. Currently, our understanding of how multiple species of fish behave in an unaltered fishing net is insufficient. This study analyzed and evaluated the behavior of mixed schools of two fish species in a rectangular net using simulations. It was found that mixed fish schools, where the species differ in swimming ability and the range of response to other fish, naturally separate. However, when the species differ only in their response to the net and to other fish, they do not naturally separate, behaving similarly to single-species schools.
