However, concerns remain regarding teleworkers’ mental health and motivation. Prior research suggests that sharing a sense of presence among teleworkers can help alleviate these issues. We propose a dynamic brightness adjustment method for ambient displays that adjusts brightness based on the worker’s current activity. The display dims during active work periods to avoid distraction and increases brightness during breaks to enhance awareness. Our experimental results indicate that the proposed method is more easily noticed and less intrusive than a constant display method. Furthermore, workers who were less focused on their tasks tended to prefer the proposed method.
