The analysis was conducted on a data science education class for first-year students at Hiroshima University in June 2023. In this class, students could experience generative AI during group work and answered a questionnaire about their learning motivation before and after the class. We evaluated changes in the questionnaire scores before and after the class using a two-factor analysis of variance to study the effects of the experience with the generative AI and the class implementation over time. We also analyse the descriptive report assignment and discuss the effects of generative AI in education. The results show that the experience of generative AI is related to students' interest in learning AI and their attitude towards class participation.
