Athletes often struggle to maintain cognitive performance under physical fatigue, which can worsen decision-making, attention, and reaction time. Although many studies have explored the effects of mental or physical fatigue separately, research evaluating interventions targeting both simultaneously is limited. This study compared the effectiveness of mental fatigue interventions in improving recovery from combined mental and physical fatigue. Participants completed four randomized sessions using different interventions: no intervention, binaural beats, mindfulness, and deep breathing. In each session, participants performed treadmill exercises and completed the Stroop Task simultaneously to assess cognitive performance. Physical fatigue was measured using ECG and Borg's Scale, while subjective mental fatigue was evaluated using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Deep Breathing was rated as the most effective intervention for mental fatigue recovery, significantly reducing subjective fatigue and improving cognitive performance for the majority of the participants, while mindfulness had the least impact on mental fatigue recovery. |
