Based on detailed pedestrian flow data obtained from the open data platform of Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture, we created ”community development materials” that consider seasonal variations and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Using these materials, we conducted a workshop for students, focusing on developing a caf’e business plan to identify and propose solutions for local issues. Post-workshop survey results indicated that the visualization and analysis of pedestrian flow data were beneficial for discussions on community development. However, the need for information beyond pedestrian flow data was also noted. Additionally, we developed an educational textbook to promote the utilization of pedestrian flow data.
