However, it is becoming more realistic to argue that AI's capabilities have reached a level where it can perform legally meaningful tasks such as contracts performed by legal entities such as companies. Therefore, since the 2010s, 20 years after Solum's argument, there seems to have been an increase in discussions about the extent to which AI should be given legal personality, if it is to be given legal personality. A representative example is the argument in Chopra & White's \"A Legal Theory for Autonomous Artificial Agents\" that the type of legal personality \"legal personhood\" to be given to AI depends on economic conditions, and not giving it is nostalgia. In 2018, Pagallo has attempted to refine this argument based on real examples.
