We propose using linear rails to monitor IT equipment within server racks automatically. Until now, it has been possible to monitor IT equipment accommodated in racks of up to 9U. Therefore, with data centers in mind, we have been developing a rack monitoring rail that allows for the automatic surveillance of the entire server rack. In this paper, we report on the objectives for automatic monitoring and the rack monitoring rail's design and development status.},
