度全方位の Virtual Reality (VR) コンテンツを視聴したり,仮想世界でアバターになって,ほかのアバターとのコミュニケーションを楽しんだりすることを可能にする技術の進展が目覚ましい.イマーシブメディアは,VR や eXtended Reality (XR) と呼ばれるアプリケーションの発展型であり,現実の世界と仮想の世界を区別なく利用した映像空間内を自由に移動し,好きな視点からの全方位映像を見ることができ,あたかもその空間に入り込んだような体験ができる 6 Degree of Freedom (DoF) のメディアである.筆者らは,さまざまな端末で利用可能なイマーシブメディアの実現に向けた研究開発を進めており,ボリュメトリック映像や 360 度映像,2 次元映像などのビデオオブジェクトとシーン記述とから構成されるイマーシブコンテンツをネットワーク上でレンダリングすることで,さまざまな形態の端末で利用するシステムを提案している.本稿では,クラウドとして広く用いられている Amazon Web Services (AWS) progress has been made in technologies that enable us to view 360-degree omnidirectional Virtual Reality (VR) content and to become avatars in the virtual world so that we could enjoy communication with other avatars. Immersive media is an advanced form of applications such as VR and eXtended Reality (XR). It allows users to move freely in a video space that makes use of the real world and virtual world without distinction, and to view images from any location. It is a 6 degrees of freedom (DoF) media that provides users with experiences that feel as though they are in the video space. We are promoting research and development to realize immersive media that can be used on various types of devices. In this work, we propose a system that renders the immersive content consisting of scene descriptions, volumetric video, 360-degree video, and 2D video, over a network in order to produce images for presenting on devices having different capabilities. This report presents our experimental findings on the motion-to-photon latency, which is defined as the time it takes between the user moving their position/direction and this motion being reflected on the screen of device, in the case of a renderer built on a virtual server on Amazon Web Service (AWS), one of the widely used cloud.
