As a driving mediation method for cooperative automatic vehicles utilizing dynamic maps, a method using spatio-temporal grid reservations has been studied. A collection of cells created by dividing time and road space is defined as a spatio-temporal grid, and the vehicle coordinates its travel by reserving the spatio-temporal grid it wishes to travel on in advance. However, existing studies of travel mediation methods based on spatio-temporal grid reservations assume that all vehicles are self-driving vehicles. Since the full deployment of automated vehicles is expected to take a long time, it is essential to propose a control method for automated vehicles that takes into account conventional manual vehicles that do not have communication functions. In this study, we propose a road merging mediation method based on spatio-temporal grid reservations for situations where cooperative automated vehicles and manually operated vehicles without communication functions coexist.
