When the TCP window size is not enough large to fully utilize the bandwidth of a network link due to high delay or high packet loss rate, some methods have been proposed to use multiple TCP connections for performance improvement. The usage of multiple TCP connections can be applied to Multipath TCP (MPTCP), which establishes a subflow on each of multiple paths. We have proposed and evaluated the segmented file download methods which use multiple TCP or MPTCP connections on multiple paths. In the segmented download process, the delay caused by repeated requests and replies as well as insufficient size of TCP window affect the performance when increasing the number of divisions. On the other hand, the data assigned to a slow path may require a long time when decreasing the number of divisions.
