In this paper, we introduce an automatic method enabling the smooth transfer of skin weight between human-like characters bound to helper joint rigs. Our method finds the correspondence between the target vertex and reference mesh regions with two types of spatial proximity. A guide weight map is first generated using a standard skinning technique to establish a relationship between the skin vertices and skeletal joints. The correspondence between the reference and target skins is then found using vertex-to-bone projection and bone-to-skin ray-casting using the guide weights.
