It automatically judges valid strikes by measuring the contact and force of the foot against the protective gear with sensors. It provides quick and correct judgments without subjectivity. However, since points are awarded as long as the sensors react, illegal kicks (e.g., Monkey kicks) are also judged as valid strikes. Such misjudgments by the Electronic protective gear not only confuse the game progression but also encourage the use of illegal kicks. In this study, we propose a new method to detect Monkey kicks using machine learning based on accelerometer and gyro sensor data. We also investigate the optimal number and placement of sensors for cost-effective wearable systems. This study aims to realize a low-cost electronic protective gear system that does not interfere with the wearing of the device. The evaluation results confirmed that 100% of Monkey kicks could be recognized by attaching only one sensor on the pelvis if the player's data had been pre-collected. Moreover, the highest accuracy of inter-subject identification is 64.2%, emphasizing the necessity of enhancing accuracy.","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_4_description_8":{"attribute_name":"論文抄録(英)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"Taekwondo adopted electronic protective gear in 2008.
