Lossy coding is necessary to achieve high compression efficiency, and both shape and color information are compressed with an acceptable degradation. We study deep-learning-based coding schemes that aim to reduce the overall data volume by specifically tolerating visually minor degradation. In this paper, we propose a method to obtain the importance of a point in a point cloud based on the color information and to control the coding based on the importance.
