While the positive aspects of its contribution to the development of a free internet are appreciated, there is also significant criticism of granting such strong immunity to powerful and influential digital platforms. There is active debate on amending the law. However, the liberal-conservative divide in opinion has been so great that the revised law has not been passed. Recently, judges have also expressed critical opinions on the operation of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act.
