However, the disadvantage of carbonation is that the carbonation is lost over time. Conventional devices enhance the carbonation sensation by applying electrical stimulus to the oral cavity, mainly the tongue. Auditory stimulus also influences the sensation of eating and swallowing, so we expect a cross-modal effect to enhance the carbonation sensation.
